A LOOK BEYOND THE DESK

College teachers sign on to lecture and grade and everything else that goes along with the job. But is it a job or is it a calling? Every teacher has the opportunity to inspire students with transformational long-term impact during those daily interactions that come with the role. You are much more than an employee. You provide crucial and compassionate support in the development of real lives every time you look beyond the desk.

As keynote speaker, Janiece drew upon her experiences as a university instructor to connect on a genuine, personal level with the faculty members attending our annual Adjunct Faculty Summit. Weaving together instructional practice with student stories, she encouraged us to reflect on the difference that we can make in the lives of learners. Janiece is a skilled orator who exudes, even virtually, the kind of passion and enthusiasm that created energetic applause and teary eyes by the end of her address.
