Richard Dawkins has been a Coordinator in the Center for Student Advocacy at Greenville Technical College for more than 10 years. He coordinates and implements campus-based student diversity programs and student leadership development opportunities, empowering students to take an active and collaborative role in their learning.
Richard is passionate about getting African American males interested in education. As the coach for the “Call Me Mister” program at Greenville Tech, he assists several male students in their quest to become teachers.
He is Vice President/Co-Coordinator of The Mentoring and Leadership Development Institute, which conducts mentoring and leadership programs that empower boys to become confident young men and purpose-driven leaders in their communities.
Before joining Greenville Tech, Dawkins spent many years in the radio industry, beginning at WOKJ/WJMI in Jackson, MS, and moving to the Upstate as gospel director at WJMZ. He also served as regional promotion manager at Capitol Records in Los Angeles, California, where he worked with many well-known names, including Tina Turner, M.C. Hammer, Bebe & Cece Winans, Freddie Jackson, Melba Moore, and Natalie Cole.
A native of Taylors, South Carolina, Richard is a graduate of the Atlanta School of Broadcasting. He is also a U. S. Army veteran.
